Serious Coffee Serious coffee means that we are obsessed with coffee quality. Our number one guiding principle is a passion for excellence in coffee, served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Brew Ha Ha! is a 12-store locally-based espresso cafe chain. Brew Ha Ha! cafes combine the quality and style of a premier Italian coffee bar with the intangible things that make customers happy a warm and relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. The opposite of what many large specialty coffee chains offer today. Our mission as “coffee-evangelists” is to save the masses from bad coffee experiences. Brew Ha Ha! sets the standard for its specialty coffee beverages in the markets it serves. What Serious Coffee Means: Better Coffee. BHH uses estate-grown coffee that represents the top 3% percent of specialty-grade coffees in the world. We partner with a small, artisan roaster who cherry-picks the best of the best from small high-quality lots. Mega-chains that focus on large-volume purchases can’t afford to do that and the coffee suffers as a result.
Better Baristas. You won’t find a machine at Brew Ha Ha! where espresso gushes out at the touch of a button. Nor will you see vats of pre-steamed, over-heated milk. Instead, you’ll find barista trained to the highest standards to create hand-crafted beverages. The result: coffee drinks that don’t need a ton of milk and sweeteners to taste good. Better Roasting. BHH coffee is roasted by an artisan roaster who uses the most advanced roasting techniques to highlight the best characteristics inherent in these fine coffees. Most specialty coffee served in coffee shops is over-roasted, which hides the defects in the coffee. It’s like with a charred steak, where you taste the char and not the underlying flavor of the steak. Better Equipment. BHH uses top-of-the-line semi-automatic espresso equipment. Not-so-serious coffee chains use fully automated espresso equipment which do not give the barista enough control to make superior drinks. We’re keeping it real -- why take life too seriously? However, life is also short so why shouldn’t everyone have the best coffee? Whether you’re a regular guy who wants a “regular” cup of joe fast or a coffee connoisseur who wants to discuss the merits of Guatemala Huehuetenango at great lengths, we give our customers our best without pretension. Best of Delaware Thank you for voting us Best of Delaware for the 13th year in a row! Come try our award-winning coffees and espresso beverages. Espresso 101 Class Public Barista Training Classes Give Coffee Lovers Hands-On Experience at the Art of Espresso. Brew Ha Ha! has launched a unique barista training program to give avid espresso fans an insiders look at the art of making espresso. Now, Brew Ha Ha! is giving its customers the opportunity to make their own espresso with a turn at the machine. Each class will have a number of elements to give students a new perspective on the café experience and the drinks we produce. Students will be introduced to the language of espresso; they will take part in a latte art session to channel creative espresso energy for drink preparation and display. They will also share the pro’s recipes for the perfect cup. A barista lesson will put the class behind the counter to pull their own espresso drinks. Finally students will enjoy a taste testing where they will sample the most exotic of espresso drinks. Class members will walk away from this lesson with a better understanding of the art of making espresso and an appreciation for the barista who pulls their favorite coffee drink. It’s a hands-on experience with a unique twist. A barista is the bartender of the coffee shop pulling specialty espresso drinks with precision and ease. They are the atmosphere and the energy. Ever wondered about the lingo of the barista the double ristretto? What makes an espresso so good? How does an espresso differ from a cappuccino? The art of espresso making far surpasses simply brewing with coffee beans. Baristas are trained in the art of making a specialty coffee drink. They must grind, pack and press the grounds perfectly pulling a little cup of delicious art. A barista adds expression to espresso. "We always have customers inquiring about how their favorite drinks are prepared," says Brew Ha Ha! owner Alisa Morkides. "Public barista training is a great way for our customer’s to learn about the espresso drinks they love and gain an appreciation for the pride our staff takes in its work." Barista training classes are a perfect fit for any coffee lover. The classes are taught by our world-famous barista trainer, Greg Vogeley. Greg will lead you through the steps of espresso pulling creating a brilliant aroma, preparing delicious drink and reestablishing a love affair with espresso.
